The people

A de-addiction centre is only as good as the people inside it. These are ours.

Dr. Amanullah Ghori

Dr. Amanullah Ghori, consultant neuropsychiatrist at AasraConsultant neuropsychiatrist. M.B.B.S., DPM. RMC Registration No. 23346. De-addiction specialist. He is on our own staff, which is the part that matters. Most kendras in this belt work with a doctor who visits once a week or once a month. Ours examines every patient who is admitted.

Dr. Kuldeep

Dr. Kuldeep, chief counsellor at AasraChief counsellor. Ph.D. in Psychology. Runs the daily individual and group counselling sessions, and most of the family counselling.

Anita Mishra

Anita Mishra, counsellor at AasraCounsellor. M.A. in Psychology. She handles a lot of the first conversations with mothers and wives, which is often where a case actually begins.

Parwinder Singh

Parwinder Singh, centre in-charge at AasraCentre in charge. Handles admissions and the day to day running of the centre. He is usually the person a family meets first.

Beyond them there are attendants and support staff on duty at every hour, including through the night. Withdrawal does not keep office hours.

Why we treat the mind as well

Addiction is rarely the whole problem. Depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, or something the person went through years ago and never spoke about are often sitting underneath it. A centre that only handles the physical withdrawal sends the person home with the same mind he arrived with, and he goes back to the drug.

This is the reason we keep a psychiatrist on staff rather than treating the body and hoping for the best. It is also why our programme runs for about four months instead of two weeks.

What the four months look like

  • Detox. The first week or two, supervised, with medicine to control withdrawal.
  • Assessment. Our psychiatrist examines the patient and decides what else is going on.
  • Counselling every day. Individual and group, plus family counselling.
  • Routine. Yoga in the morning, gym, cricket, badminton, meals at fixed times, lights out at a fixed hour.
  • Going home. Relapse prevention, and the family is told what to watch for.

The daily routine

Idleness is what pulls people back to the drug, so the day is fixed from the wake-up call to lights off. This is the timetable on the wall at the centre.

What we do not claim

We do not promise a cure. Nobody honest does. Addiction is a relapsing illness and some people need more than one attempt. What we can tell you is that some of the men in our video testimonials have been clean for ten years and more, and that we have been doing this since 2017.

We also do not publish our fees on this website, because the figure depends on the room and the length of stay. Call and we will tell you plainly.

Confidentiality

No name and no photograph of any patient leaves this centre without written permission from the family. The men who appear in our videos chose to speak, and several of them now bring other families to us. Most people do not want to be seen, and that is completely normal.

How this website is written
