Why families come here
Hanumangarh sits right on the edge of Punjab. Sri Ganganagar is next door, and Abohar, Fazilka, Muktsar and Ferozepur are all closer to Hanumangarh than most people assume. A large number of our patients here are Punjabi families who found this centre easier to reach than anything in their own district.
There is a second reason, and families say it openly. In a small town everybody knows everybody. Some families would rather admit their son one district away, where nobody at the shop will ask questions. That is a completely reasonable thing to want, and we do not make anybody explain it.
Which parts of the district families come from
Hanumangarh town and Hanumangarh Junction, and from Nohar, Bhadra, Pilibanga, Rawatsar, Sangaria and Tibbi. Punjab starts a short drive from here, so families from the Fazilka, Abohar and Muktsar side reach this de-addiction centre about as easily as they would reach one inside Punjab.

What treatment involves
The programme is the same as at our Moga centre and runs for about four months.
- Medical detox for the first week or two, supervised, with medication so that withdrawal is controlled rather than endured.
- Psychiatric assessment. Addiction rarely comes alone. Depression, anxiety and sleeplessness underneath are the usual reason a person relapses after a short admission somewhere else.
- Counselling every day, individual and group, plus family counselling.
- A fixed daily routine from the wake-up call to lights off, with yoga, gym and sport. You can see the full timetable.
- Relapse prevention before he goes home, and clear guidance to the family.

Admission
Admission can be done at any hour of the day or night. Please telephone first so that a bed is ready and the doctor knows you are coming. Turning up unannounced only means waiting.
Bring any medicines he is already taking and any old reports or discharge papers. If he has been admitted somewhere before, tell us what was done there. It changes the plan more than people expect.

Confidentiality
No name and no photograph leaves this centre without written permission from the family. The men who appear in our video testimonials chose to speak publicly. Most families do not, and that is completely normal.
