How the health information here is written.

Anyone can put a page on the internet about drugs. This page explains who writes ours, who checks it, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who writes it

The pages on this site are written at the centre, from what the staff here deal with every day. The counsellors and the centre in charge supply the practical part, such as what families actually ask, what withdrawal looks like on the ward, and what tends to go wrong after a patient goes home.

Who checks it

Anything on this site that touches medicine, symptoms, withdrawal or treatment is read and approved by our consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Amanullah Ghori, M.B.B.S., DPM, RMC Registration No. 23346, before it is published. Pages that carry medical information show the date they were last reviewed.

What we use as sources

Where we quote a fact about drug use in Punjab, government programmes, or treatment practice, we use published material from bodies such as the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre at AIIMS, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Punjab health department and the World Health Organization, or reporting from established newspapers.

If we cannot verify something, we leave it out. As an example, we do not publish the telephone number of another centre that we have not confirmed, because several listing websites carry wrong details for centres in this district.

What we will not do

  • We do not promise a cure or a success rate we cannot prove.
  • We do not publish before and after photographs of patients.
  • We do not use a patient's name or face without written permission.
  • We do not run down other centres, including government ones. Where we compare, we compare on facts such as cost, waiting time and length of stay.
  • We do not scare families into admitting somebody.

Photographs

Every photograph on this website is of our own centre, taken at the centre. We do not use stock photographs of other buildings, other staff or other patients.
